Lessons From Tom Mason, PGA
Lessons are offered by appointment from PGA Professional, Tom Mason. Upon graduating from The University of South Carolina in May of 1993, Tom began his career in Golf. Tom has nearly 20 years of instructional experience and has been a Class A PGA member since 1996. Tom has been very active as a Board Member of the Carolinas PGA Section and has served as Tournament Director, Vice-President, and is currently the President of the South Carolina PGA Chapter.
Tom makes instruction fun and simple and preaches basic, sound, fundamentals that are necessary to execute a proper golf swing. Tom believes a proper grip, correct alignment, repeatable tempo, and a balanced set-up are the essential tools for building the foundation that helps create a solid golf swing. Each person’s swing is unique and Tom will help golfers of any age or ability improve his or her ball striking skills.
Tom will provide professional instruction on all aspects of the game from tee to green. Whether you want to learn how to hit your driver longer and straighter, zero in on more precise iron shots, or improve any part of your short game, Tom will formulate a lesson plan to help you achieve your goals.
A personalized lesson or a customized series of lessons from Tom Mason will lead to lower scores for a golfer of any skill level, inevitably increasing enjoyment of the game. Tom works with beginners or the skilled golfer and will do individual lessons, group lessons or clinics. Video analysis is also available.

Enjoyed the lesson Thursday evening. Had some time to kill Friday before I picked up my kid from school so I headed over to the local driving range in Lexington to hit a bucket of balls. Concentrated on lining up my shoulders, light grip and keeping the head still…legs quiet….letting the right hand “go along for the ride”. I hit the ball consistently, longer and with less effort than I have in a long time. On a good day before the lesson I would probably hit an 8 iron 115-120 yards. Friday I was hitting it near 140 consistently. Worked through pitching wedge down to 8 iron and each of them picked up about 15-20 yards on average - Stan
Thank you so much for taking the time to work with me yesterday. You looked at my swing and provided instant feedback which really made a difference in my ball striking. I'll take my new swing out to the executive course today and see how it works! - Talk to you soon, Kris
Hi Tom, I shot 78 on Saturday at Ft Jax! Shot 34 on the back – Rita
Thank you Tom, I really appreciate your teaching style and being able to relate things in ways I understand. I will work on the wedges and high irons for a while and then come back for some short game help.- Thanks again, Greg
The lesson you gave me this afternoon was fantastic. I was impressed with your approach of me as an individual versus trying to mold my swing into some standard form. The first thing I did when I got home was make some notes of your advice while it was still fresh in my mind.I look forward practicing and getting more consistent. Bad habits are hard to break, but I believe I am on the right track. I will definitely recommend you to anyone looking to take lessons. - Thanks so much, Tommy
